Nick and Lendsy • Surprise Proposal
Having known Nick and Lendsy for almost 8 years now, I was so blessed to be a part of their engagement! It was unbelievably hard not to say anything to Lendsy. Nick had made arrangements with me to take their photos and then unexpectedly pop-the question. We started the afternoon on the Independence Square in Independence Missouri. A place we all knew too well from our high school years. Once the sun started getting a bit lower in the sky, we headed out to a previously planned location. Nick knew how much Lendsy loved sunflowers, so we headed to a nearby field. When we arrived, all the sunflowers had pretty much turned their heads down and were done blooming for the season! Having not planned this in our previous conversation, Nick and I had to secretly look for a proposal spot near the field. He picked the only flower blooming along the way, and handed it to Lendsy. On a closed off road behind the sunflower field, we all spotted a little gate opening the lead to another farmers field. In the background were some hills and one of the most perfect sunsets we could have asked for. The sky was the most beautiful scarlet red! It was now or never because the sun was setting fast. I gave the cue to Nick and I watched as he reached into his pocket while I told Lendsy to fix a strand of her hair. That was when Nick leaned in to tell Lendsy how much she meant to him. She smiled adoringly, not ready for what was coming next. Nick bent down on one knee, completely catching Lendsy off guard. I had stopped snapping photos and started recording a video of him asking her hand in marriage. The cicadas were chirping in the background as Lendsy nodded "yes" to Nick.
